Oswald Chambers, born to devout parents in Aberdeen, Scotland, exhibited a profound spirituality from a young age. He became a member of Rye Lane Baptist Chapel at 16 and actively engaged in evangelizing the local community. In May 1910, he married Gertrude, and they welcomed their only child, Kathleen, three years later. During World War I, he served as a YMCA chaplain in Zeitoun, Cairo, where he inspired Australian and New Zealand troops with his powerful messages. Chambers famously connected with soldiers, even when confronted by their skepticism. Tragically, he succumbed to complications from surgery in November 1917 and was buried in Cairo with full military honors. Following his death, Gertrude dedicated her life to publishing his works, most notably "My Utmost for His Highest," a timeless devotional that has been translated into 39 languages and remains widely read to this day.
