Author : David Herbert Donald

David Herbert Donald, a prominent historian and biographer, earned his bachelor's degree in history and sociology from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, before completing his PhD in 1946 under renowned Lincoln scholar James G. Randall at the University of Illinois. Under Randall's mentorship, Donald's dissertation on Lincoln's law partner, William Herndon, evolved into his first published work, *Lincoln's Herndon* (1948).
