Baruch Spinoza, also known as Benedictus de Spinoza, was a Dutch philosopher and theologian renowned for his controversial pantheistic beliefs and intellectual love of God. Best known for his 1677 work, *Ethics*, Spinoza is regarded as one of the foremost rationalists of the 17th century.
