Alfred Lansing was an American journalist known for his contributions to prominent publications such as Collier's and his role as an editor for Time, Inc. Books. A veteran of the US Navy from 1940 to 1946, he earned a Purple Heart for his service during World War II. Following his military career, Lansing pursued higher education at North Park College and Northwestern University before becoming a member of the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge, England, in 1957.
