Author : Richard Wurmbrand

Richard Wurmbrand, born in 1909 in Bucharest to a Jewish family, was the youngest of four sons. After a brief stint in Istanbul, he returned to Romania following his father's death. Initially drawn to communism, Wurmbrand's political aspirations shifted dramatically after he and his wife, Sabina, converted to Christianity in 1938. He became an influential pastor, ministering to his fellow Romanians during the Soviet occupation. His outspoken faith led to multiple arrests, where he endured severe torture and solitary confinement for a total of over eight years. After escaping to the West in 1964, he emerged as a prominent advocate for persecuted Christians, founding the organization Jesus To The Communist World, now known as The Voice of the Martyrs. Wurmbrand authored 18 books, including the renowned "Tortured for Christ," and remained a vocal defender of religious freedom until his passing in 2001. His legacy continues to inspire many around the world.
