Alessandro Barbero is a distinguished historian and novelist, specializing in medieval studies. He earned his degree in Literature in 1981 from the University of Turin with a thesis on medieval history and further refined his expertise at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. In 1984, he secured a researcher position in Medieval History at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata." His novel, "Bella vita e guerre altrui di Mr. Pyle, gentiluomo," won the prestigious Premio Strega in 1996. Since 1998, he has been a professor of Medieval History at the University of Eastern Piedmont "Amedeo Avogadro." In addition to his historical essays, Barbero writes novels and contributes to various publications, including "La Stampa," "Medioevo," and the cultural supplement of "Il Sole 24 Ore." He has also been involved in the television program "Superquark" since 2007, where he presents a segment on historical customs. His contributions to literature and history were recognized by the French government, which honored him with the title of “Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres.”
