Eugene H. Peterson was a distinguished pastor, scholar, author, and poet, best known for his significant contributions to spiritual literature. He served as the James M. Houston Professor of Spiritual Theology at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was the founding pastor of Christ Our King Presbyterian Church in Bel Air, Maryland. Throughout his prolific career, he authored over thirty books, including the acclaimed Gold Medallion Book Award winner, The Message: The Bible in Contemporary Language, which offers a modern translation of the Scriptures. After retiring from academia, he and his wife Jan enjoyed life in the scenic Big Sky Country of rural Montana. Eugene Peterson passed away in October 2018.
