Author : Benjamin Hoff

Benjamin Hoff, a native of Sylvan, Portland, developed a deep appreciation for the natural world that has significantly shaped his literary voice. He earned a B.A. in Asian Art from The Evergreen State College in 1973, and has explored diverse fields such as architecture, music, and graphic design. Hoff's dedication to Asian culture led him to attain a certificate in the Japanese Tea Ceremony, complete a two-year apprenticeship in Japanese fine-pruning methods, and study T'ai chi ch'uan and Ch'i Kung extensively. His works, including the acclaimed *The Tao of Pooh* and *The Te of Piglet*, both international bestsellers, have garnered significant recognition; the former spent 49 weeks and the latter 59 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. In 2006, Hoff announced his departure from writing in an essay titled "Farewell to Authorship," expressing his discontent with the publishing industry.
