Author : Joseph Murphy

Joseph Murphy was a prominent Divine Science minister and author, renowned for his influential work, "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind." Born in Ireland to a private school headmaster, he initially pursued a path in the priesthood with the Jesuits. However, a transformative experience with healing prayer led him to embark on a new journey in the United States, where he practiced as a pharmacist while deepening his spiritual studies. After moving to Los Angeles in the 1940s, he became actively involved in the Religious Science movement, eventually being ordained by its founder, Ernest Holmes. Murphy's leadership at the Los Angeles Divine Science Church helped it grow into one of the largest New Thought congregations in the nation. Throughout his life, he earned a Ph.D. in psychology, wrote extensively, and continued to inspire others through his teachings until his passing in 1981.
