Yoshihiro Francis Fukuyama, born on October 27, 1952, in Chicago, is a prominent American philosopher, political economist, and author. The son of a Japanese-American minister and a Japanese scholar, Fukuyama spent his formative years in New York City before moving to State College, Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in classics from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in government from Harvard University. Currently, he serves as the Bernard L. Schwartz Professor of International Political Economy at Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.
