Peter Godfrey-Smith is a Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the Graduate Center, CUNY, and a half-time Professor of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Sydney. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, he completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney and earned a PhD in philosophy from UC San Diego. His academic career includes teaching at Stanford University and holding positions at the Australian National University and Harvard University. With a focus on the philosophy of biology and philosophy of mind, Godfrey-Smith has explored areas such as pragmatism, the general philosophy of science, and aspects of metaphysics and epistemology.
