    Author : Howard Zinn

Howard Zinn was a prominent American historian, playwright, and socialist intellectual, renowned for his critical perspectives on history and society. A World War II veteran, he served as the chair of the history and social sciences department at Spelman College and later as a political science professor at Boston University. Zinn authored over 20 books, most notably the influential *A People's History of the United States*, published in 1980, alongside a version for younger audiences in 2007. Identifying as a blend of anarchist and democratic socialist, he extensively chronicled the civil rights movement, anti-war activism, and labor history. His memoir, *You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train*, not only captured his personal journey but also inspired a documentary of the same name released in 2004. Zinn passed away in 2010 at the age of 87.
